Quilt Market, October 2022

Quilt Market, Houston

Many know of the Quilt Festival that occurs the first week of November in Houston, however the week preceeding festival is Quilt Market, exclusively for businesses to come see what is new and to connect with manufacturers. I have been in business for about 18 months now, and most of that has still involved Covid lockdowns, so I have been really excited to get out and see what this experience is like. The hotels in downtown Houston are incredibly expensive, and it was made even worse when the Houston Astros went to the World Series...so I chose to stay at a hspital near the medical complex and catch an Uber instead. I took many classes and was excited to see all the different products available and the new lines coming out this year. This experience has definitely been a wonderful opportunity to help me strategize how I will be growing.

Tula Pink

The day before Market opens there is a session called Schoolhouse where you power through a variety of classrooms where different vendors promote their products in a teaching session and highlight new lines and products being released. I want to share so much about Market, but I turned into a fangirl geek so today I think the focus willbe all things Tula....

Queen of Diamonds

You cannot mention Tula Pink without getting excited about both the new English Paper Pieced/Hybrid quilt pattern (there will be some machine sewing) that was designed by Pink Door and the new fabric line Everglow, both set for release in April. Tula will be doing a sew-along for this and she talked about how beautifully written the pattern is. There will be re-release of previous fabric lines, exclusively for these kits (not available seperately). Wow, this will be a fun project!

Have you heard of Funky Friends Factory?

These cute patterns are designed by Pauline McArthur of Australia. There are tons of patterns (over 100 to choose from) of varying skill level. Tula featured them at market to accent the Everglow fabrics I would be remiss to not also mention the ByAnnie bags too... These are both really fun sewing projects that look great in a variety of fabrics and colors. We will be carrying both...stay tuned shopping is coming.
