Southern Belles, here we come...
I am sew excited to return to Southern Belles this year, after learning so much last year. I have had many opportunities to work on my custom quilting skills in addition to the hundreds of edge-to edge quilts under my belt now.

Joan Knight
Joan is a rockstar educator and this year did not disappoint. There are so many new things I learned from her this year and it was definitely exciting to have friends I made last year that I got to reconnect with. There were pattern designers here this year. Nancy Haacke of Wasatch & Laurie Thomas of It's a Quilt Thing are new this year and Joyce Lundrigen is back fo Methodist Hill Quilt Studio, Joan's partner in the Skill Builders. Another amazing educational opportunity I get every month to help improve those custome quilting skills.

Southern Belle challenge...
I did not participate in the challenge last year, since I was brand new, and was so busy I almost didn't participate this year. Nothing like being under fire and waiting until the last minute. As with many challenge quilts, the requirement was to stay to 20 inches or under. Additionally, it had to have blue & the belle logo. I should have included a picture of the other entries, as it was interesting to see how the hive mind works. While they all looked different, it was quite clear to see that we all had a similar way of thinking about it. I sure love the way she looks, and learned so much in the process. In additional to custom quilting skills, this was the first time I have done reverse applique. I will definitely be doing it again.
Winner, winner, chicken dinner
There are always tons of door prizes to be given out and I was fortunate enough to be taking home this nice steamer, thanks to the generous donation of Christy Dillon of My Creative Stitches. The steamer can be a godsend when trying to work out fullness in a quilt on the longarm, and I had actually not purchased one yet, so it was a very appreciated and cherished gift to bring home.
